Member International Boxing Hall of Fame Puerto Rican boxing legend Miguel Cotto talked about the third fight between the antagonists: on September 17 in Las Vegas (USA), middleweight veteran Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) from Kazakhstan will try to take the title of the absolute champion of the super middleweight division from the Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs).

The previous two bouts between the two ended in draws and a minimal victory for Canelo, but Golovkin traded in his 50s and had never boxed at 76.2kg before.
Cotto’s opinion: “This is Golovkin’s last chance to record a really great victory in his piggy bank, because age is already running out. This fight is very important for him. And it’s also unclear how Canelo will return to the ring after losing to Dmitry Bivol. With those two factors in mind, I’m guessing this is going to be a great fight. For this reason, I will not name you a favorite.
Cotto faced Canelo in November 2015, lost by decision. At stake was a vacant WBC Diamond belt in the middle division, but at the same time fighters fought in the contractual weight limit (up to 70.3 kg).
Yesterday Golovkin spoke about his retirement, once again called Canelo a cheater. But promoter Eddie Hearn claims that the Mexican wants a rematch with Bivol immediately after the trilogy with GGG.
