Brazilian women’s MMA legend Cristiana Justino (26-2), aka Cris Cyborg, is getting closer to fulfilling her long-held dream of making her debut in the professional boxing ring.
The 37-year-old former UFC champion and reigning Bellator featherweight champion announced her pro-boxing fight the day before. On September 25, she will face Simona Silva (17-21, 6 KOs) in the main event of a boxing evening in Curitiba, Brazil. As part of the same show, the famous former world champion, now 46-year-old Acelino Freitas, will box.
Note that Christiana received a boxing license – in the state of California – back in 2017, but due to the tight schedule of performances in MMA, boxing did not work out for a long time.
At the moment, Justino’s contract with Bellator has come to an end, and she has not yet begun to sign a new agreement.
It is noteworthy that in 2014, Cyborg tried herself in Muay Thai, but was defeated by Jorina Baars.
In her last fight to date, Justino successfully defended the Bellator title at the promotion’s tournament on April 23, defeating Arlene Blencoe on points in a rematch.
