The Japanese who repeated Lomachenko’s record is again close to conquering the fourth weight

Convention & Exhibition Centre, Brisbane, Australia. In the main event of the show, the vacant WBO International champion belt in the second featherweight (up to 59 kg) was played. Local prospect Liam Wilson (11-1, 7 KOs) snatched victory from ex-applicant from Argentina Matias Rueda (37-2, 32 KOs).

The Argentinean gave the initiative to the favorite, but snapped very badly. Wilson missed more than he should have, but it’s lucky that the older Hispanic is a flamboyant puncher with only the right level of opposition. In the 4th round, the guest broke Wilson’s nose, patted him well in infighting. In response, the Australian boxed because of the jab, gave his best three-minute. So far it’s competitive.

Wilson boxed funny. In the left-handed stance, he played a techie (at such moments, Rueda approached and broke him with blows to the body), and then switched to right-handedness and turned into a slugger (he delivered readable, but very powerful overhands and swings, and the opponent hid behind the block and did not answer). The Argentinean had a cool 7th round in infighting, but in the last seconds he missed the body and frankly veered off, giving the almost won three minutes to the opponent.

In the 9th round, Wilson first decided that the opponent was shocked and rushed to finish off. When there was no strength left to strike, Rueda seized the initiative. After the gong, both hobbled to their corners with difficulty. Wild and funny mahach. In the 10th round, it turned out exactly the opposite: first, Wilson cycled, and then turned on a minute before the gong.

In short, both fighters are average. I wonder what the Australian judges will count. Their verdict: 99-91, 97-93 and 96-94 in favor of the local fighter.

Wilson UD 10.

In the second event of the evening, the Australian Olympian
Paulo Aokuso (2-0, 2 KOs) had a second fight in profiring and defended the title of Australian light heavyweight champion (up to 79.4 kg) from the encroachments of veteran Robert Burridge (30-9-1, 22 KOs).

The one-sided duel ended unexpectedly quickly – already in the 2nd round. At first, the awkward and slippery southpaw Aokuso dropped the veteran twice, then forced his corner to throw a towel into the ring in surrender.

Aokuso TKO 2.

Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan. In the main event of the show, local fighter Masayoshi Hashizume (19-1-2, 11 KOs) lost the WBO Asia Pacific belt in the second flyweight (up to 52.2 kg) – he lost to ex-pound conqueror of three divisions compatriot Kosei Tanaka (17-1, 10 KOs).

The challenger is also known for the fact that he repeated the record of the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko – only 12 fights were enough for him to conquer three divisions. Tanaka tried to take the 4th division (52.2 kg) with a vengeance, but lost ahead of schedule to the WBO champion Kazuto Ioka.

The fight showed that it was premature to write off Tanaka. He will certainly try to conquer the fourth weight again. In this fight, the favorite contender looked much more confident than previous performances in this weight.

His pressure began to bear fruit already in the 3rd round. Tanaka, as before, was very good in the ratio of thrown / accurate shots. And Hashizuma was clearly uncomfortable in the ring with the ex-champion – every now and then he looked askance at the time and at his coach. In the 5th round, the bloodied champion capitulated.

Tanaka TKO 5. Very powerful performance.
