The favorite in the fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall has been named

Despite Tom Aspinall’s more than convincing win over Sergey Pavlovic, current UFC heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones is the favorite in a potential bout with the division’s interim champion.

Currently, the odds on the American to win are 1.714 (58.33% probability), while the Brit’s success is rated at 2.2 (45.45% probability).

Bookmakers released the starting odds after Aspinall at UFC 295 in New York knocked out the Russian as early as 69 seconds into the match and challenged Jones, who was set to headline the numbered show but pulled out of his bout against Stipe Miocic in two and a half weeks with a torn pectoral muscle.

According to the UFC’s plan, Jones is scheduled to fight Miocic upon his return, which won’t take place until eight months from now, and Aspinall will face the winner of that confrontation, but the Brit hasn’t given up hope that he will be the reigning champion’s next opponent.

Recall that in March of this year Jon Jones resumed his professional career after a three-year hiatus and won the vacant UFC heavyweight championship belt by finishing Frenchman Cyril Gane with a guillotine choke in two minutes.
