The Beterbiev-Yard fight is officially announced: boxers’ comments

The day before, as part of the boxing evening in Telford (England), the official contender for the WBO world light heavyweight title (up to 79.4 kg) Briton Anthony Yarde (23-2, 22 KOs), as expected, won the intermediate fight against the Bulgarian without any problems
Stephanie Koikovastopping him in the 3rd round.

Immediately after that, as planned, Yard’s next fight was officially announced – on January 28 in London he will challenge the WBO, WBC and IBF titles from their owner from Canada Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KOs).

Here are the boxers’ comments from the pre-prepared press release.

“I never shy away from a challenge and Anthony Yarde is a top contender who asked for this fight. I look forward to playing in London for the first time since the 2012 Olympics,” said Beterbiev. Yard called me “slow” after my fight against Joe Smith, but slow and steady wins the race. And I will win in London on January 28th.”

“January 28 will be my night,” Yard is sure. – My destiny is determined in my hometown, and this is exactly what I have been striving for throughout my professional career, which began just at Wembley. I’m not going to make any big predictions for the upcoming fight against the unified champion in Beterbiev, but I’ll just say that I don’t want to leave it to chance and that I’m especially good when fighting bone to bone on a collision course.
