Teofimo Lopez will return on August 13, the opponent is “Roca”

Former undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (16-1, 12 KOs) nevertheless agreed to a “trial” debut fight in the light welterweight (up to 63.5 kg) with Pedro Campa (33-1-1, 22 KOs). About it
informed ESPN columnist Mike Coppinger.

The fight will take place on August 13th. The location has not been determined; perhaps it will be Fort Lauderdale in south Florida.

Campa has made only one trip from Mexico to the US in his 11 years as a pro. Clearly, the 30-year-old “Roca” is being driven to Lopez for a boost in self-confidence after a crushing (psychological) loss to underdog George Cambosos last November. The Australian, by the way, is ready to give revenge to Teofimo.

Kampa has not yet stood out with something remarkable. So were his opponents. The only defeat the Mexican received in 2017 from a certain
Carlos Jimenez (L TKO 7). Two years later, he skated a draw with the same unknown
Abner Lopez.

A year ago, Pedro struggled through the points of a fighter with a record of 26-17, but in the last fight in August 2021, he scored in the 6th round of the prospect with a 5-0 list.

Previously, there was talk that the 24-year-old Teofimo would fight Josh Taylor or Arnold Barbosa, but, as we see, these options have been postponed until better times. Lopez challenged Davis the other day.

Lopez hasn’t moved up to super lightweight yet, but is already “taking control of the division”
