Spanish super lightweight Sandor Martin believes that WBO world champion in his weight class Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) is the No. 1 fighter in this category today. Yes, even cooler than the WBC champion Regis Prograis (28-1, 24 KOs), whom he defeated in a thin (and controversial for many) in 2019 in the Super Series final.
After the former Scottish all-round underdog in his last two fights against Jack Catterall and against Jose Ramirez, many boxing fans have decided that Prograis is still the baddest at the moment. Martin disagrees.
“Taylor deserves the most respect because he fought everyone and beat everyone, so for me he is number one in the division,” Sandor told DAZN. – In second place is Prograis; he has an amazing attitude when he enters the ring. The guy shows restraint and is very calm in difficult moments.
Recall that Regis won a great victory over Jose Cepeda at the end of autumn.
Overall, says the Spaniard, the super lightweight is a “competitive and tough division”.
Martin arrived in the US in early December and almost beat the total favorite Teofimo Lopez. Or beat? After watching this fight, the top promoter said that it is obvious that Lopez is regressing.
