American-Mexican heavyweight and former unified world champion Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 KOs) terminated his contract with Premier Boxing Champions Al Haymon.
At first they talked about it on the sidelines, then the news was confirmed by the father / manager of the ex-champion Andres Ruiz Sr.
Andy’s priority is the final WBC eliminator with the former champion of the organization, American Deontay Wilder. Also on the list of primary goals, the most financially profitable fights are against the British Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
Yesterday in the IBF were supposed to pass the promotional auction. For the title of interim champion of the organization, it was proposed to fight Ruiz and the mandatory challenger, Croat Filip Hrgovic.
After the IBF accepted Hrgovic’s proposal and revised the distribution of the prize fund in his favor (60/40 instead of 50/50), it became clear that there would be no fight.
The auction never took place. But their fate is still in question – ESPN Mexico claims they have been moved, and the reviewer Jake Donovan knows for sure that this fight is no longer relevant, and soon the organization will turn to the next available fighter in its rating.
Presumably, Hrgovic will have a difficult fight with African Martin Bakola Ilunga. By the way, he recently found a cool promoter. Earlier, he announced his simple plan: defeating Hunter and fighting Dubois for the Usyk title.
