Stipe Miocic frustrated with the organization of the fight between Jon Jones and Cyril Gun

Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic was surprised to learn that Jon Jones and Cyril Gun would compete for the vacant UFC championship belt vacated by Francis Ngannou, who left the organization.

“I was offered a fight with Jones in March, I accepted, but in the end they gave it to Cyril Gan,” Miocic said in the next edition of the MMA Hour program. “I’m not a matchmaker and I can’t tell you why. I dont know. They just went in a different direction, and they told me that maybe they will assign me a fight with the winner in July.

“Yes, I was definitely upset. Jones is a great fight for me, but in the end it was not my decision, unfortunately. Let’s see how things turn out. These two will fight, and whoever wins, I would like to face the winner.”

Stipe Miocic last entered the octagon in March 2021, losing by knockout to Francis Ngannou in the second round and losing the UFC heavyweight championship belt.

Recall that the title fight between Jon Jones and Cyril Gan on March 4 will headline the UFC 285 tournament in Las Vegas.
