Stevenson vs. Cruz? I don’t think so, says Arum

Despite the readiness of ex-world champion Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) from the USA to fight the spectacular Mexican slugger Isaac Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) in a fight for the right to claim the WBC world lightweight title (up to 61.2 kg), his promoter Bob Arum is skeptical about the chances of this.

It’s been several days since the WBC recommended this option, but neither side has rushed to negotiate a fight.

For some reason, Arum believes that it is the 24-year-old Cruz who is dodging the fight.

“I don’t think so,” he said.
FightHypewhen asked if Stevenson would fight Cruz. “I don’t think Isaac really wants to fight him. In principle, I don’t think that anyone wants to go into the ring with Shakur at all. Therefore, I am skeptical that this fight will take place. We will probably go in a different direction. But I can’t blame Cruz for not wanting to fight Stevenson.”

I wonder where Bob got that Isaac is against such a fight? Slugger has yet to react to the proposition.
