Stevenson: Gervonta will have one style, Lomachenko will have another, Haney will have a third

American Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) is preparing to conquer the third weight category – from 2023 he will perform in the light weight limit.

Last week, he lost the WBC/WBO 59kg championship belts on the scales, after which he worked with an aggressive first number and confidently beat the Olympic champion Robson Conceição of Brazil.

Stevenson is not very happy with the performance, but he knows what he has to work on: “We need to improve our wrestling skills. You saw for yourself, he constantly grabbed my hands, and I could not free them.

According to Shakur, depending on the opponent, he will act differently in the ring: “I could work with Conceição at a long distance. But my task is not only to win, but also to entertain. I’m comfortable in infighting. It is clear that with Gervonta Davis I will act differently – move, jab, use the advantage in speed and fighting IQ. But with Devin Haney, I would work with an aggressive first number. That is, depending on the style of the opponent, I will box in different ways. The same with Vasyl Lomachenko. I think we’re going to have a great fight. And I will do whatever it takes to win.”

The fighter claims that the fight with the Ukrainian has long been agreed upon and “will take place either next, or after one fight.” Earlier, we talked about what awaits lightweight with the transition of Stevenson.
