The reigning UFC bantamweight champion accused the holder of the interim champion belt in this division, Petr Yan, of doping.
“For reference: I don’t think that every Russian fighter or athlete cheats. You have clean and dirty athletes, just like Americans, Brazilians, Chinese and other nationalities.”
“Personally, I think that Petr Yan is a dirty crook. Maybe I’m wrong, but I highly doubt it,” Sterling wrote on Twitter.
For the record, I do not think every Russian fighter or athlete cheats. Just like every American, Brazilian, Chinese, or any other nationality of athletes, you have the clean and dirty ones.
Personally I think Cheotr Yan is a dirty cheat. Maybe I’m wrong but I highly doubt it. https://t.co/NFWdQC4RGi

Last March at UFC 259, Sterling defeated Yan via disqualification for an illegal knee to the head in the fourth round. Their rematch was scheduled to take place in October at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi, but Sterling was injured and pulled out of the fight. Corey Sandhagen came on as a substitute, and the result of the confrontation was Jan’s victory by unanimous decision.
