Stephen Thompson – Jeff Neal. Forecast and announcement for the fight

The main fight of the UFC Fight Night 183 tournament

On the night from Saturday to Sunday in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), the final UFC tournament in 2020 will be held at the UFC Apex home mini-arena. UFC Fight Night 183 (or UFC Vegas 17) does not have any really big names on its card, but it is one of the deepest promotional events in recent times with 13 scheduled fights.

The main pair of the evening will be representatives of the welterweight division: ex-title contender Thompson and Neil, who goes without a loss in the UFC. This fight became the highlight of the show after Leon Edwards contracted COVID-19 and his fight against Khamzat Chimaev was rescheduled for 2021.

Thompson returns after a long pause. He has not fought since his November 2019 decision win over Vicente Luque, turning the black page of his biography of two consecutive losses to Darren Till and Anthony Pettis with a spectacular Superman Punch knockout.

Neal hasn’t lost in almost four years. Since joining the UFC in 2018, he has won 5 victories. Jeff also hasn’t fought yet in 2020, his last cage appearance was a year ago at UFC 245, where Neal knocked out Mike Perry in a minute and a half. A few months earlier at UFC 240, Neal was knocked out by Niko Price.

Prediction for the fight

Thompson comes from kickboxing and karate, so he is one of the strongest strikers in the division with solid takedown defense. Neil is also a distinct drummer with good boxing and kickboxing skills.

Probably, the fight will take place on the feet. Neil has a harder punch, so he always has a chance to win by knockout. However, Thompson is a more skilled striker and has lost only once in his MMA and kickboxing career (to Pettis in March 2019). We believe that the fight will go through all five rounds and the judges will give the victory to Wonderboy.
