Manager of the holder of three IBF/WBO/WBA heavyweight titles (over 90.7 kg) Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) Egis Klimas gave a little
interview for an American reporter.
In a conversation, Klimas discussed whether the WBC champion from Britain Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 23 KOs) is afraid of Usyk. From past reports, it is known that the Ukrainian boxer plans to attend the next fight of former US champion Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs). In an interview, Egis gave a clear answer about Alexander’s future plans.
Why is Tyson Fury afraid of Usyk? Every time you hear excuses not to fight Usyk: Joshua, Charr. Doesn’t he want to fight Usyk and unify the belts?
– I think he understands that he can lose to Usyk. He is not afraid to fight because he is a fighter. He cannot be afraid. We cannot say that he is afraid. He is not afraid.
I should have said he wasn’t interested.
He is not interested because he understands that he can lose.
“I talked to Deontay Wilder. Of course, Usyk will be in New York next week. Deontay is very interested in the fight. Would you be interested in organizing Usyk vs Wilder?
– At the moment, we are only interested in a unification fight – to unify the belts with Fury.
- Usyk’s manager: “He can’t beat Fury…”
What do you think about the potential Wilder-Joshua fight? Who will win?
“That’s their business. I don’t work with any of them, so I’m not interested.
– If Fury is watching you, what will you tell him?
— [копирует Фьюри] Sign the contract, big man [улыбается]!
“He always says that.
He says so, and now we say so. Sign a contract!
He is joking, but you are serious.
– Of course.
– If he wants this fight, then it will take place in January-February.
– Yes sir.
