Shakur Stevenson on whether Davis can take Ryan Garcia’s punches

The punching power of top lightweight prospect Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) is unlikely to make Gervonta “Tank” Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) nervous when/if they meet on April 15. So says another top lightweight Shakur Stevenson, as he said in an interview with DAZN Boxing Show.

“He doesn’t care what he can miss. He doesn’t give a damn about that,” Shakur said of Gervont. “He is sure, implicitly, that he can withstand any blows, and so far he holds them.”

At the same time, of course, Davis will not stupidly go forward to Ryan’s best serves, the American clarifies.

“Ryan is a good puncher. I doubt Gervonta is going to just go ahead and take any hits from him. I think he is a smart fighter and will adapt,” Shakur said.

Earlier, the boxing columnist and ex-world champion dismantled the Davis-Garcia megafight. Gervonta himself believes that it is good to be mentioned with the likes of Mike Tyson.
