The young conqueror of two weight divisions American Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) announced the transition to lightweight. The fighter tried to work as a matchmaker – he challenged colleagues from competing promotional companies to fight. As expected, all these gestures did not lead to anything.
But it is possible that Shakur has finally found a rival. Not just solid and dangerous, but also one with which it is quite possible to arrange a fight – this is the ex-absolute division champion Australian George Kambosos Jr. (20-2, 10 KOs).
“Kambosos is next on my list, –
He speaks Stevenson. – As for me, this one will take the fight, because he essentially has nothing to lose. It seems to me that after he lost twice in a row to Devin Haney, I am his only top option. I don’t see any other moves. Both in terms of the scale of the battle, and in terms of money. Therefore, I still assume that he will not refuse.
Previously, Stevenson sent the contract to William Cepeda: “I still hope that Cepeda wants to fight me. And I personally consider him a very solid fighter. His style seems to be simple – he just throws punches. I don’t even know who to compare it to. Oscar Valdes? No, he is definitely not that active in the ring. But just throwing punches is not enough. And if he accepts the fight, then it will end very badly for him.
Stevenson claims that he is “working on a priority list”: “In my ranking, Isaac Cruz is in 2nd place, and I am No. 3. Immediately behind me is Cepeda, and then Kambosos. So I challenge them to fight one after another. But I understand that they are just all scared. Everyone on social media is so cool. But in real life – no ** I. If Kambosos refuses? Next up is a dude from Japan… I don’t remember his name and I’ve never seen him in action…”
And Stevenson is sure that “lightweight is overrated.” A little earlier, he called “Pitbull” Cruz a “puppy” and said who else would not mind fighting.
