Shakur Stevenson: “All because I’m not Lomachenko”

The conqueror of two divisions and the current leader in the second featherweight weight, American techie Shakur Stevenson (18-0, 9 KOs) funny trolled his promoter Bob Arum (Top Rank) – did not agree on the status of the absolute world champion.

“I want and will be the absolute world champion. But since I am not Vasily Lomachenko, Arum believes that the status of the absolute is no longer relevant, has long outlived itself, ”wrote
Stevenson on social media and put a smiley at the end of the phrase laughing to tears.

The fighter hints that in the case of Lomachenko, Arum did absolutely everything so that the Ukrainian got a chance to become an absolute – he failed, unexpectedly lost in the decisive fight to the American Teofimo Lopez.

In Stevenson’s case, the boss Top Rank really behaves differently, trying to dissuade the fighter from going for the rest of the division titles. According to Arum, Shakur just beat his only real competitor in the division, the Mexican Oscar Valdez, and the rest of the belt holders – Kenichi Ogawa from Japan (IBF) and Roger Gutierrez from Venezuela (WBA) – are a priori no match for him.

Arum would like to see Stevenson move faster at lightweight instead, having previously voiced a desire to give him a face-to-face fight with Lomachenko more than once. Shakur supposedly agrees: I’m ready to fight him. Previously, Stevenson paid tribute to Valdez: “A hell of a champion!”
