Sergey Pavlovich assessed the performance of Islam Makhachev

UFC interim heavyweight champion Sergey Pavlovic shared his opinion on the performance of his former teammate Islam Makhachev, who successfully defended his UFC light heavyweight title two weeks ago by knocking out Australian Alexander Volkanovski in the first round.

“I always follow the guys’ fights,” said the Russian in an interview with the channel “Ushataika”. “Khabib congratulated me on my last win. We communicate whenever possible, but now everyone has such a level that there is not always a lot of free time”

“Of course, watched Islam’s fight, cheered for him. And I thought the fight would last all five rounds, then that first fight turned out to be very competitive, and was very surprised, straight well he gave it to him. They took it apart, did the job the right way, and he just ate it up.”

Sergey Pavlovich will share the octagon with Tom Aspinall next weekend at UFC 295 in New York City, and the Russian knockout artist says he’s one hundred percent ready for a title clash with the Brit.

“We’ve watched him, studied him, we know his strengths and weaknesses completely, so, everything is fine, everything is normal. I’m 100 percent ready for the fight. He’s a tough guy and there’s no such thing as us underestimating him. I’m fully prepared for all five rounds. All that’s left is to get in the cage – we’ll see there.”
