39-year-old ex-unified light heavyweight world champion (up to 79.4 kg) Russian Sergey Kovalev (35-4-1, 29 KOs) expressed a desire to fight with the newly minted WBC title holder in the heavy category (up to 90.7 kg) , with his peer from Sweden Badu Jack (28-3-3, 17 KOs).
“Back in 2015, I visualized the fight with Badu Jack, and I am very glad that he is approaching. I hope that in the near future we will meet for the title, ”Sergey wrote on the social network.
Recall that Kovalev made his debut at 90.7 kg in May last year, defeating the Bulgarian Tervel Pulev on points in 10 rounds. This was the first appearance of the Russian in the ring since the defeat by knockout from Canelo Alvarez in November 2019.
Jack won the WBC heavyweight title at the end of last week, taking the title from Ilunga Makabu, whom he stopped in the 12th round. This is the third weight category conquered by Badu.
Meanwhile, Jack already has an opponent, although there is talk of Canelo on the sidelines.
