The 28-year-old American fighter spoke about this in the next episode of the BROMALLEY podcast.
“Even if I fight Aljamain Sterling next fight, I won’t get a percentage of the pay-per-view sales – that’s what we discussed in the negotiations,” O’Malley said. “I tried to get myself a percentage of PPV without being a champion, they said no, but I got a very lucrative contract with numbers that I am very happy with. As you know, I myself am negotiating, and I don’t think that any manager could beat such conditions for me. ”
Last October, Sean O’Malley defeated former division champion Petr Yan by split decision, removing the Russian from the top spot in the rankings. Presumably, the American’s next opponent will be the winner of the title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo, tentatively scheduled for May this year.
