Sean O'Malley reacted to the defeat of Petr Yan

The second number of the UFC bantamweight division, Sean O’Malley, shared his opinion about the next defeat of Petr Yan, who last weekend at UFC Fight Night 221 in Las Vegas, after five rounds, lost a unanimous decision to Merab Dvalishvili.

“I was sincerely sorry for Peter,” MMA Fighting quotes the American. “Just recently you were the best boxer according to Dustin Poirier, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters, the most dangerous and intimidating dude in the division, but then you hit Aljo with a forbidden knee, have a close rematch with him, and lose to me”

“It seemed to me that this time he looked different, but maybe that’s because Merab was very good. Perhaps Merab made him look like this. I just watched the fight and thought, ‘Damn, I have a feeling that I took something from him'”

Nevertheless, O’Malley pays tribute to the skills and character of the Russian.

Merab’s 49 takedown attempts are insane, and Peter’s defense was just as insane. He was so ashamed that he lost to me, but there is nothing to be ashamed of. I’m a hell of a trained fighter, but of course you don’t want to lose to me – I’m a cutie with pink hair.”

“He was so embarrassed that he lost to me, he wanted to win so much, and this shows us what a gangster Peter is. He chose the most difficult fight, ‘Give me Merab! I want to win! I must close the defeat against Sugar by all means!'”
