Popular American puncher Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) will return to the ring in January in the super lightweight limit against Filipino ex-challenger Mercita Gesta (33-3-3, 17 KOs), claims
insider.
According to him, the event will take place in California or Texas, but the date has not yet been decided. In fact, Gesta has previously been called Garcia’s most likely rival.
The Mexican has three defeats in his liabilities, two of which are in titles – he lost to Miguel Vazquez (2012) and Jorge Linares (2018). The only early defeat to the Filipino was arranged by gatekeeper Juan Antonio Rodriguez.
Gesta had an extended hiatus, which he closed in April with a victory over Joel Diaz Jr.
