This was announced in the next edition of the MMA Hour program by the well-known sports columnist Ariel Helwani.
“What will happen to Bellator? Let’s just say that there are persistent rumors that they are for sale,” the journalist said.
Bellator MMA is currently owned by the American multinational media conglomerate Paramount Global, created in 2019 as a result of the merger of CBS Corporation and Viacom. The organization has been owned by Viacom since 2011, when the corporation acquired a controlling stake in Bellator MMA.
Note that two years ago, Bellator President Scott Cocker threatened to sue former organization champion Ben Askren, who said that Viacom had long wanted to get rid of this asset, but was having difficulty finding a buyer.
At the end of last year, the American organization held a joint event with the Japanese Rizin FF league, with a 5-0 victory in cross-battles.
