Ruiz on meeting Ortiz: ‘This one is like Joshua, only left-handed’

Former world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz (34-2, 22 KOs) hopes to defeat the age-old Cuban Luis Ortiz (33-2, 28 KOs) on September 4, after which he will seek a new title attempt. He clarified that the main focus of the camp is on skill development because “this is not a weightlifting competition – I’m going back to what made me a champion in the first place, and I’m not here to lose weight or look cool – I just want to be in” my “form”.

For Ruiz, this will be the third fight in a row with the third coach during this time: after the second fight with Joshua, he broke up with Manny Robles, hired Eddie Reynoso to fight Chris Arreola, and now works with Alfredo Osuna.

“I’ve wanted to work with Osuna for a long time, it just wasn’t the right time before. He’s just what you need against lefties. I feel, this is exactly what I need for this fight, ”said
boxing scene Andy.

Ruiz – Ortiz. Teddy Atlas bets on the underdog?

“Louis is going to fight for real, he wants to be a champion. It won’t be an easy ride. His style is different from what I’m used to – he’s strong, awkward, left-handed – but we trained very hard to hone our skills “for him.” I have to go back to the titles, ”the Mexican dreams.

“I think for me this fight will be like [первый] fight with Anthony Joshua, only Ortiz is left-handed. There will be a hell of a battle on September 4, ”the Californian Kotigoroshko predicts.

Since 2019, this will be only the second fight for the ex-champion. Ortiz predicts that the fight will end in a knockout.
