Robert Garcia Predicts Valdez-Stevenson Fight

Well-known American coach Robert Garcia shared his opinion about the upcoming unification fight in the second featherweight (up to 59 kg) between WBC world champion Mexican Oscar Valdez (30-0, 23 KOs) and WBO title holder American Shakur Stevenson (17-0, 9 KOs) .

Garcia, like most, sees Stevenson as a favorite, but urges not to write off Valdez and has no doubt that Oscar will be able to show himself from a favorable side.

Oscar Valdez – Shakur Stevenson: forecast for the fight on May 1

“Oscar Valdez is Mexican and you guys know that Mexicans go out to fight. So he will do everything that is necessary for this, Garcia is sure. “It’s a tough fight. Shakur is very technical, very smart, he also has a lot of power. It’s a very difficult fight for both of them.”

“I think Valdes will try to do what all Mexicans do. Break him, hit him to the body, elbows, shoulders, whatever. And that’s exactly what he needs,” says Robert. – Shakur is more talented, and I bet on his victory on points. But Valdes definitely has a chance and I think he will prove everyone wrong about him. Even if he fails to win, he will still prove to the skeptics who consider him a hopeless underdog. 100% that this will be the toughest fight of Stevenson’s (professional) career.”
