Renato Moicano discusses the UFC 281 epic post-victory promo.

Renato Moicano felt disrespected heading into UFC 281, and he let everybody know after stopping Brad Riddell.

The lightweight bout was the preliminary round of Saturday’s Madison Square Garden event. After his win in round one, Moicano teamed up with Joe Rogan to create an exaggerated promo that fired everyone at the arena and those watching from home.

“I’ve been in the UFC for f****** almost 10 years,” Moicano said on The MMA Hour. “I don’t even know how long I’ve been in the UFC, but I’ve never been treated with respect. Therefore, I was forced to make a statement and express my feelings.

“I’m just angry and I want to f*** everybody up. I’m going to fight everyone and show them how great I am. This is why I talk like this. It’s also funny because my English isn’t great so people like it. But I don’t mind, I’m going start talking like that and that’s all.

Since moving up to 155, Moicano is 3-2 with three submission wins with his two losses coming against surging contender Rafael Fiziev at UFC 256, and, in a short-notice, five-round fight, Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 272.

Moicano feels that he isn’t getting the credit he deserves. This especially when compared to lightweight fighters such as Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson who have lost several times in recent years.

” I don’t know the ranking, but I am No. 7 in the featherweight rankings when I moved up to lightweight,” Moicano said. “I won the [first] fight at lightweight, and they removed me from the rankings. I see people like McGregor, and people like Ferguson [who lost], or people like Hooker who go to featherweight, come back, lost, and are back in the rankings.

” But this is not my fault. This is not UFC’s fault. Why? You know why? Because I did not talk because I wasn’t showing myself. But now, I will do the opposite. People are going to get to know me. Because they’ll know my fight choice, I will be able to demonstrate my skills with performances. My coaches and members of the gym know my abilities. But I want to show the world.”

For those who enjoyed the more entertaining side of the 33-year-old Moicano, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.

“Now, I know the game,” Moicano said. My coach in Brazil taught me humility back in those days. Ten years ago you could not be McGregor or Sugar O’Malley. If you showed up in a gym like that, they’re going to beat you, they’ll say you can’t be like that.

“But entertainment is important, people love to watch that. I am beginning to get that. It’s all about the money, and I want people to watch my fights and my career. This is why I will be me and fight these men. You get everything in one package. [I want] large money, lots of money.”
