Rematch Alvarez-Bivol may not take place: Hearn spoke about the dangers

The rematch of the Russian world light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) and the absolute champion in the category below the Mexican Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) may well not take place yet.

British promoter Eddie Hearn recalled in an interview
DAZNthat before being in the same ring for the second time, Alvarez will meet with Gennady Golovkin, and Bivol, apparently, will hold a mandatory defense against Gilberto Ramirez.

And if Canelo or Dimitri fail, the rematch, according to Eddie, will lose relevance.

“The fact is that in order to have (another) fight with Canelo Alvarez, Bivol (first) has to fight Gilberto Ramirez,” Hearn said. Canelo vs Bivol 2 is not guaranteed because we can’t just wait until May (2023). It’s impossible, and in these fights (Alvarez-Golovkin and Bivol-Ramirez) there is a very big risk.”

“I don’t know, Canelo and Golovkin will have an incredible rematch from September, and if Canelo wins, he will be looking for a rematch (with Bivol). At the same time, Bivol himself will have to fight. In addition, do not forget that Bivol also wants to fight Beterbiev, ”the promoter emphasized.

Recall that on May 8, Bivol successfully defended the title, confidently defeating Alvarez on points.
