Raquel Pennington insures Amanda Nunes vs Irene Aldana

Former UFC bantamweight title contender Raquel Pennington is pulling out of UFC Fight Night 224 to insure a title fight between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana, who will headline UFC 289 in Vancouver on June 10.

“Raquel Pennington will insure Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana’s title fight,” UFC President Dana White told The Schmo. “She will train, drive weight, be present at the weigh-in, and if something happens to one of the girls, she will go to the fight”

Recall that the fight between Raquel Pennington and Irene Aldana was supposed to head the UFC Fight Night 224 tournament in Las Vegas on May 20, however, the Mexican got a title chance, replacing the injured Julianna Peña, and the American was left without an opponent.

There is no word yet on which fight will be the main event of UFC Fight Night 224.
