The organizers of the fight show on November 19 in Austin (USA) quickly found a new opponent for the American heavyweight Hasim Rahman Jr. (12-1, 6 KOs), after the 45-year-old MMA legend from Brazil Vitor Belfort, with whom he was supposed to fight initially , withdrew from the fight due to the coronavirus.
Now Rahman will face another ex-UFC MMA fighter, Greg Hardy (1-0, 1 KOs), who gained fame as an American football player.
“I am very happy, because this is my chance to show that I am part of the boxing world,” said a pleased Hardy. “I know the name Rahman well and I know that he was preparing for Vitor, but I am confident in myself and ready to show that I can box.”
Hardy made his professional debut in October, knocking out fellow debutant Michael Cook in the 2nd round. In MMA, his record is 7-5; in UFC: 4-5.
Rahman suffered his first professional loss in April, losing by TKO 5 to James Mackenzie Morrison. On August 6, he was scheduled to fight against star content maker Jake Paul, but due to Rahman’s huge advantage, everything fell through.
