At the weekend, the American Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) used the second attempt at 100% – he knocked out the Argentinean Brian Castaño (17-1-2, 12 KOs) and became the first undisputed middleweight champion in the era of four belts. The first fight between the fighters ended in a controversial draw.
Fight Charlo – Castaño 2: is this place in the “pound” not taken? – our report on it
WMMAA Editorial Board traditionally disagreed on how to interpret the triumph of the American – not everyone agreed that he had earned a place in top ten boxers in the world, regardless of weight categories.
But by the majority of votes, Charlo got into the top 10, took 9th place, displacing the ex-leader of the rating, Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko, to 10th position and throwing him out of R4R recent debutant compatriot Shakur Stevenson. It seems that very soon (June 5 or 6) Lomachenko will leave our “pound”.
In the meantime (as of May 16, 2022), the top 10 from WMMAA looks like this:
one. Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs)
2. Saul Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs)
3. Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs)
4. Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs)
5. Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs)
6. Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs)
7. Naoya Inoue (21-0, 18 KOs)
eight. Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs)
9. Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs)
ten. Vasily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs).
And we also have, which is updated weekly.
