The “interim” WBO heavyweight world champion and mandatory challenger for Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, Briton Joe Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs) talked about sparring with the current UFC heavyweight title holder Francis Ngannou from Cameroon.
Joe, as expected, was impressed by the outstanding power of the opponent.
“I sparred with Ngannou before my fight against Dubois,” recalls Joyce, “and I can tell that he is a big and powerful dude. He is a natural freak and it was a good experience. He’s got phenomenal power! Most of the time I tried to stay out of the reach of his powerful punches so that my head wouldn’t be blown off my shoulders.”
Joyce admitted that he would like to have an official fight with Ngannou in the future, but only according to the rules of boxing:
“I would love to fight him, but without going beyond boxing. UFC is too much guys. I take my hat off to these guys because they have to work hard in so many ways to be versatile and proficient in punching, kicking, wrestling, grappling, moves and everything else. It’s a huge job.”
Recently, the petite Weili Zhang lifted the huge Ngannou “like a feather”.
