Interim UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan, in an interview with SE, expressed the opinion that he definitely has more experience in boxing than former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor. Earlier, McGregor invited Ian to come to Dublin and have a boxing sparring session.
– Usually Conor McGregor does not offer anyone sparring. You have become an exception. What is it connected with?
– With the fact that Conor understands who wins today, who the attention of journalists is focused on, and so on. He knows the whole thing, and he also wanted to remind about himself. He also understands that I can box. His ego says he can beat everyone. And I just answered him: “Let’s not talk. Let’s do it”.
– In what aspects of boxing are you superior to Conor?
I have been boxing for a long time. I understand what I’m talking about. Whether I surpass him in anything – the fight would show. And so, of course, I have more experience in this than he does. One hundred percent it is.
– Your boxing coach is Irishman John Hutchinson. How did he react to the idea of sparring or actually fighting Conor McGregor?
He’s busy as always. Conor also wrote to him. He wrote that everything is positive in this vein. We are always ready to go, fight, fight, fight, defend our positions. Therefore, we do not need to be persuaded.
Is he for this idea?
– He’s always for it. He’s a gangster (smiles).
