Petr Yan lost devastatingly to Merab Dvalishvili

Former UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan failed to get his career back on track after suffering his third loss in a row against Merab Dvalishvili.

The fight, which headed the UFC Fight Night 221 tournament in Las Vegas, went the whole distance, following the results of five rounds of which the judges gave the victory to the Georgian fighter three times by unanimous decision with a score of 50-45.

The Russian could not oppose anything to his opponent, who for 25 minutes not only maintained a high pace, but also increased it from round to round.

Constantly threatening Jan with takedowns, Dvalishvili pinned down the opponent and did not allow him to find his distance, while he himself acted comfortably in the stance, as a result of which the Russian fighter spent the fourth and fifth rounds with his right eye almost completely closed.

In a post-fight interview, Merab Dvalishvili, who won his ninth straight win, stated that he was not going to claim the UFC bantamweight title until his friend and sparring partner Aljamain Sterling, who is the reigning division champion, rises to the featherweight category.
