Peter Yan has rescheduled training camp

Former UFC flyweight champion Peter Yan, who was planning to travel to the United States two months before his fight with Song Yadong, has arrived in Thailand where he will hold his training camp.

This was announced on social media by the Tiger Muay Thai Club.

“Welcome back to camp, Petr Yan,” the post reads. “After a setback in his last few fights, Peter Yan has returned to Tiger Muay Thai and has begun preparations for his fight against Song Yadong at UFC 299”

The Russian confirmed this information on his social media accounts.

Peter Yan announced his intention to fly to America shortly before the New Year.

“I will fly to America for a couple months,” the fighter was quoted by the press service of the Archangel Michael club. “It’s important for me to get far away from home so there are no distractions at all. The guys I know don’t have American visas, and I need to work with the team there ahead of time.”

Why the former UFC champion changed his plans has not been reported.

Last March, Peter Yan suffered his third straight defeat, losing by unanimous decision to Merab Dvalishvili after five rounds, while Song Yadong is riding a two-fight win streak, finishing Ricky Simon by technical knockout and winning by unanimous decision over Chris Gutierrez.

As a reminder, UFC 299 will take place March 9 in Miami, and its main event will be a flyweight title fight between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera.
