Manchester Arena, Manchester, UK. Former world heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) from New Zealand Joseph Parker (31-3, 21 KOs) failed to knock out Briton Jack Massey (20-2, 11 KOs), who had not previously competed in heavyweights, is the owner of a low-prestige IBO cruiserweight world title.
Parker stunned the opponent with a starting assault, brought several left hooks to the target. Massey responded by clinching. For almost the entire three minutes, he did just that. It’s a pity, because his only attacking attempt – the combination of the postman – fell right on target.
Massey has a very solid double jab. But he is tight, so he continues to wind circles around the ring and constantly clinches. The Briton does not even think about winning. Just trying not to miss anything weighty. Not a very exciting fight.
The referee constantly separates the fighters, asks Jack not to grab the opponent’s hands. In the 8th round, he could not stand it and fined the Briton. By that time, the fight had become a little more competitive. Parker has reduced the density of the fight, and in slow boxing, the underdog is not so bad. But he is so passive that the judges may well give the favorite all the rounds.
Terrible fight. Disgusting mathmaking for a PPV card.
Wow! 96-93, 97-92 and 97-93 in favor of the guest.
Parker UD 10.
