Former world heavyweight champion 36-year-old American Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs), who remained silent for a long time after an early loss in the trilogy from Tyson Fury, told why he decided not to end his career.

It turned out that Deontay cares not even about himself, but about the viability of the whole sport.

“One thing about boxing that I have proven is that boxing thrives on the excitement, and the excitement that the American (heavyweight) champion brings with him. Once that dies, then all of boxing dies,” Wilder said in an interview.
Blue Blood Sports TV.

“I was living proof (of this), so I’m back by popular demand from all walks of life, from homeless people to millionaires,” says Deontay. “It’s just an amazing feeling. So many people tell me how important this is because without an American, heavyweight boxing is not exciting at all. American heavyweight revitalizes the division.”

A few days ago it became known that Otto Wallin would be happy to fight Deontay Wilder.
