As part of the upcoming weekend, the former world champion in the first middleweight Mexican Jaime Munguia (39-0, 31 KOs) will have another passing match in the middle division (up to 72.6 kg) – in Anaheim (USA), his opponent will be the British middle peasant Jimmy Kelly (26-2, 10 KOs).

Munguia’s promoter, head of the Golden Boy Promoitons, Oscar De La Hoya, understands that fans are waiting for something else. But he states with regret that their desire does not find a response from colleagues.

In particular, the WBC world champion American Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs).

“We were ready to do the fight with (Jermall) Charlo, ready to go to any lengths to give Jaime exactly the fight he wants. The fight that everyone asked to organize, says Oscar. “But with Charlo and the whole PBC, there’s one caveat: they’re all hiding behind Al Haymon. That’s the point.”

“We don’t want to arrange regular fights. We are interested in arranging the best fights possible. And when our fighters are ready, we want to fight the best for them,” insists De La Hoya. “Hopefully Charlo will eventually grow his balls and say to his entourage, “I want to fight Jaime Munguia. I want to fight the best.”

“We want to make this fight. This is just the kind of hype that boxing fans need, ”the functionary is sure.

Recall that Charlo was scheduled to defend against the Pole Maciej Sulecki on June 18, but Jermall was injured, and the fight was postponed for an indefinite period.
