ONE Championship refuses to sign Francis Ngannou

After a three-hour face-to-face meeting with Francis Ngannou, ONE Championship President Chatri Sityodtong has decided to withdraw from negotiations with the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.

This was announced by the head of the Asian league in an interview with the South China Morning Post.

“Yesterday we met with Francis and talked with him for almost three hours,” said Sityodtong. “As a result, we have decided to withdraw from the bidding for Francis Ngannou’s services”

“After careful consideration, we have decided not to make our final offer to him. Francis is a good guy and a great champion. I wish him continued success and happiness.”

“At the end of the day, I didn’t feel like Francis and I were in agreement on non-financial issues, so it’s nothing personal, it’s just a lack of understanding.”

The news comes four days after the head of ONE Championship announced on The MMA Hour that they had a final offer for the Cameroonian heavyweight, and also expressed confidence that he would be able to negotiate with the Predator during a personal meetings.

Recall that at the beginning of this year, Francis Ngannou officially vacated the UFC heavyweight championship belt, leaving the organization as a free agent. At the same time, the Cameroonian made it clear that he plans to make his debut in professional boxing before returning to mixed martial arts.
