“I would like to fight Umar Nurmagomedov,” the Brazilian said at a press conference after the event. “I’m sure if I fight against Umar Nurmagomedov, it will be an easy fight for me because he only has wrestling. He will try to move me down, but I’m working hard on my defense. I’m pretty sure I can knock this guy out in the first round.”
With 19 seconds left in the fight, finishing Bernardo Sopay with a jumping knee strike, Oliveira, who received a double tournament bonus, agrees that his debut win in the organization is a potential candidate for the Knockout of the Year award.
“I totally agree with that. That jump knee was amazing. Personally, I’ve never seen that before. It’s going to be a milestone in UFC history. My debut in the UFC was unbelievable. All the people will be talking about that knockout. Now all the jump knee knockouts will be associated with my name.”
Recall that the fight between Umar Nurmagomedov and Bekzat Almakhan went the full distance and ended with the Russian winning by unanimous decision with scores of 30-25 and 30-26 twice, however, in the opening round he had to return to the fight after a knockdown.
