Oleksandr Usik knocked out Daniel Dubois

Reigning WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight boxing champion, Alexander Usik, made a successful defense of his titles with an early victory over WBA mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois at an event in Wroclaw, Poland.

At the start of the match the Brit looked stiff and unsure, but as the fight progressed his body punches began to cause the Ukrainian some problems, and in the middle of the fifth round a brave Dubois sent the champion to the canvas with a body punch that landed in the elastic of his underpants.

The referee decided that the blow came below the belt and gave Usik five minutes to recover, which he used fully, and only then returned to the fight.

Starting from the sixth round, the Ukrainian boxer began to pick up the pace, pressing his opponent and making it as difficult as possible for him to work on the body.

At the end of the eighth round, the Brit missed several punches and was knocked down, and after the break Dubois fell from a missed jab, as a result of which the referee decided to stop the fight at the 0:48 mark of the ninth round, recording the victory of the reigning champion by knockout.
