The fact that Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) has already been in the same ring with Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) and knows firsthand about his abilities will be of great help to him in the upcoming August 20 rematch.
In addition, now Anthony has the right attitude – the way it should be when you want to win.
The British promoter Eddie Hearn spoke about all this in an interview.
BBC Sport.
“You have to have a challenger mentality, and I saw it with Joshua this week,” says the promoter. “That’s when you’re most dangerous. Yes, he has cars, money and memories, but when he enters the ring on Saturday night, he will have nothing.
“People get fooled about how good Usyk is,” says Hearn. “Yeah, he’s a pound-for-pound leader, but when you hear all these things about him, you’re like, “Wow, ok.” And you’re already exhausted before you step into the ring. This is exactly what happened to Tony Bellew when he fought Usyk. He was ahead after six rounds, but then, in his own words, for some reason he began to rethink what was happening.
“Joshua was already in the ring with Usyk. He saw everything with his own eyes, felt its power. This does not mean that he is guaranteed to win, but it is a great help when you have already been there and witnessed the magical abilities of your opponent, ”Eddie is sure.
