Heavyweight legend Mike Tyson told who he would like to see against the current undisputed lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) American Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs).
From the abundance of options, Tyson chose the talented, but not yet tested at the top level, Ryan Garcia (22-0, 18 KOs).
“Haney wants to fight Tank[Davis]but I want to see him fight Ryan Garcia,” says Mike. “Garcia is such an asshole. They are in the same weight, and I think it would be an explosive fight. And not only bright, but also very profitable too. Ryan is a big star. I don’t think he knows it himself, but he’s a big and very bright star.”
With all this, Tyson considers Haney the favorite in a potential confrontation with his favorite:
“You have to choose Devin. He will be the favorite because he beat the guy (Kambosos) who beat the dude (Lopez) who beat the dude (Lomachenko). So he will enter the ring as the favorite.”
Recall that Haney’s next opponent has already been determined – it will again be the Australian George Kambosos, whom he confidently outboxed in early June.
Meanwhile, British promoter Eddie Hearn said Lomachenko would fight the winner of the Haney-Kambosos rematch.
