Nelson would have beaten Usyk? He’s an idiot? British expert opinion

Former cruiserweight champion and current TV boxing expert Sky Sports Johnny Nelson at first not badly so hyped, declaring the ex-absolute heavyweight champion and the current unified heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) as a left-handed middle peasant, and then completely declared that he would beat him in a head-to-head fight.

British expert
Adam Smith commented the words of a compatriot: “What do I think about Nelson’s words that Usyk is supposedly an average left-hander? (laughs) I think Nelson is an idiot for saying that.”

Smith believes that “a face-to-face fight between Usyk and Nelson would have turned out to be extremely unwatchable. There would be no bright boxing, no technique. It is clear that I would bet on Usyk. The difference between them is that Alexander won 350 amateur victories, and Johnny only 3. But in reality, all these fantasy fights … Who knows? It would be interesting to see…”

Interestingly, Nelson is the cruiserweight record holder – he held the WBO title from 1999 to 2005. It is still worth clarifying that at that time in the hierarchy of the WBO belts it was about the same as the IBO is today – a secondary title.

Nelson said a lot about the Ukrainian: “It is difficult to defeat Usyk, but not impossible”, he would have beaten Usyk effortlessly, and also talked about the strategy for a rematch with Joshua.
