NBA champ Nick Young taking boxing very seriously, doesn’t want to end up like Nate Robinson

Nick Young understands exactly what it means to “get posterized.”

This term is a reference to the moment when one person slams dunks the basketball over another.

Now, “getting posterized” has been adapted across many sports. Young, a former NBA champion and first-round draft pick, has seen both sides of the coin. Because those videos and images seem to be eternally relevant,

These days, the 37-year-old Los Angeles native has put down the basketball and instead picked up a pair of boxing gloves as he prepares to become the latest crossover athlete to test himself in combat sports. Young isn’t the only hoops player to do this, but it is something he has learned from painful experiences.

” “Sometimes they have fun with me, other times I’m there to sparring against professional boxers, and it makes you realise how far away you really are from becoming a true fighter,” Young said in The Fighter vs. The Writer. “But for the most part, I’ve been having fun.

” It’s great to try something new and learn something new. After basketball, finding something that gives you that same kind of excitement, so it feels good.”

Saturday’s rescheduled Social Gloves event will take place in Young’s hometown. Blueface will be taking part in the comain event. This show is headlined by social media influencers, who follow in the steps of Logan Paul and Jake.

Young also joins fellow NBA veterans like Deron Williams and Nate Robinson, who have also tried boxing with varying levels of success. Although Williams was impressive in the fight against NFL running back Frank Gore in December, Robinson fell to a far worse fate after he was knocked out by Jake Paul during his debut foray into boxing.

Seeing the success and failures of people coming from the same background serves as a cautionary tale for Young, who spent the last few months training incredibly hard to ensure that he looks good in victory like Williams rather than getting posterized like Robinson.

“Give Nate his credit for just getting in the ring but I know it’s tough,” Young said. It’s hard to lose like that. Cause that’s all you get known for. Nate has been a champion slam-dunker, played in the NBA since so many years and all that people remember him for is the fact that he was knocked out of the NBA by Jake [Paul]..

“That’s always going to be in the back of somebody’s head. It’s in the back of my head. You may come out victorious but things will change when you are victorious. It’s ups and downs. It’s possible to become a meme either in a positive or negative way .”

Young says he has been devoted to boxing since the day he stepped foot into the ring. His manager challenged him to do it after he had finished basketball.

At 6-foot-7 and over 200 pounds, Young has the size and athleticism that towers over most anybody else attempting to learn the sport. Young also recognizes that his natural talents will not get him far if he gets the punches flying.

Still, Young has enjoyed himself so much that he’s looking at his upcoming fight against Blueface as the start of a new career rather than living out some fantasy about competing in boxing for a single night.

” “Definitely not one-and-done,” Young stated. “I want to see how far I can go with it. It’s fun. It’s fun. Once I have gotten past the first, I will call out more people. Be the undisputed champion .”

Young saw Williams asking for his winner before Saturday’s fight. This is an interesting matchup, as Young seeks to make a name for himself in a new sports.

Young also loves the idea of facing a social influencer like YouTube star turned boxer KSI, who recently fought twice in one night while picking up a pair of knockouts. He even tried to fight KSI right after the event. Once he has some experience, it’s certainly something he wants.

“He beat people from the streets,” Young joked after referring to KSI’s victories. “To have two fights in one night, that shows you he wasn’t really fighting nobody.

“KSI. I feel like he did not fight anyone. It would be a good fight to see him fight Austin McBroom or Jake [Paul] cause he’s won a fight. Because that was not nothing. I support [a fight against KSI].. The more I improve my appearance, the more .”
