Navarrete knocked out Wilson in the wildest slugfest: video

Desert Diamond Arena, Glendale, Arizona, USA. In the main event of the evening, the vacant WBO super featherweight title (up to 59 kg) was contested. Mexican favorite Emanuel Navarrete (37-1, 31 KOs) not without incident beat Australian Liam Wilson (11-2, 7 KOs), who entered the ring despite yesterday’s weigh-in scandal.

The starting round turned out to be nervous. The fight was on the verge of a foul, the referee was a little behind the fighters. Wilson boxed in a left-handed stance, tried to work as the first number. He was required to box because of the jab, but the Australian at times forgot about it.

Navarrete rushed with traditional sweeping attacks, launched a couple of signature left uppercuts. Wilson is ready for it. His strikes from below are still more accurate. The Mexican got carried away and did not pay attention to the fact that the opponent changed his stance. Wilson dropped Navarrete – caught with a left hook. The favorite looked bad, but the referee helped him a little – he counted the knockdown for a long time, allowed him to spit out the cap.

The Mexican had difficulty moving his legs in the 5th round, but recovered by the 6th three-minute period. Navarrete seized the initiative and finally gave free rein to his fists – he increased the density of the battle. It turned out that in this weight he no longer had an advantage in power – he blundered in the exchange, was shocked again. This time both fell, after which the gong sounded.

In the 7th round, Wilson was already on the verge of survival. It is very difficult for him to endure the blows of the Mexican on the body, he yawned an uppercut, he tried to take the bike away, but he was clamped against the ropes and picked up blows. Here is the mahach! About the same thing in the 8th three-minute period – Navarrete is again close to ahead of schedule, but the guest is still holding on.

At the start of the 9th round, Wilson still fell. With difficulty he got to his feet, but the Mexican did not let him go. The referee gave the underdog a chance, but still stopped the fight, which turned into a one-sided beating. Superfight!

Navarrete TKO 9.

Congratulations to the Mexican – he is the conqueror of three weight divisions!
