In a written statement provided to MMA Junkie, Rosenfield claims Diaz contacted authorities through his lawyer after a warrant for his arrest was issued on Monday.
“Nate’s lawyer, Walter Becker, has contacted New Orleans court authorities and is looking forward to presenting to the District Attorney all the facts about this incident, which clearly demonstrate that trained fighter Rodney Petersen was aggressively pursuing Nate with the intention of getting into a fight with him, and Nate acted solely in self-defense,” Diaz’s team said in a statement.
Over the weekend, a video went viral on the network in which Nate Diaz performs a guillotine choke on a certain Rodney Petersen, and after the man loses consciousness, he throws him to the pavement.
Later, Petersen, who became famous on social networks due to his resemblance to the famous blogger Logan Paul, said that Diaz attacked him for no reason, probably confusing him with a popular YouTuber. Judging by the video, Petersen really did not intend to fight Diaz, and stood in front of him with his hands up.
As for the fighting background of the 34-year-old Petersen, between 2013 and 2015 he actually had five fights in amateur MMA, suffering five early defeats.
Recall that on August 5 in Dallas, 38-year-old Nate Diaz should have a boxing match with Logan Paul’s brother, Jake Paul.
