The popular Chechen fighter spoke about this in an interview with the channel captain hardcore.
“For the fight with Diaz, I was paid a million and a percentage of PPV,” Borz said. “When everything changed, they paid a million dollars. I offered Diaz both my million and interest on PPV. Then Ramzan Akhmatovich called me and said that he would give him as much money as he wanted, even two million dollars, if only he would agree to the fight. I told people they called Diaz, but he still refused. He didn’t want to fight me at first.”
The fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz was supposed to lead the UFC 279 tournament in Las Vegas in September last year, however, Borz showed an advantage of almost three and a half kilograms at the official weigh-in procedure and lost its headliner status, having received Kevin Holland as rivals, and Diaz got Tony Ferguson.
As a result, Chimaev and Diaz won by choke in the first and fourth rounds, respectively, after which the American left the organization as a free agent.
