Named the favorite in the rematch of Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira

Despite a dominant victory in the contenders bout, former UFC lightweight title holder Charles Oliveira will be a multiple underdog for a rematch with reigning division champion Islam Makhachev.

At the moment, the coefficient for the victory of the Russian is 1.286 (probability 77.78%), while the success of the Brazilian is estimated at 3.85 (probability 25.97%).

Bookmakers have published starting odds shortly after Charles Oliveira TKO’d Benil Dariush in the first round at UFC 289 in Vancouver to lead the title race.

The first fight between Makhachev and Oliveira took place in October last year and ended with an early victory for the Russian, who finished the Brazilian by arm triangle choke in the second round and won the vacant UFC lightweight championship belt. In February of this year, the Russian fighter made a successful title defense, winning by unanimous decision against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 in Perth.

According to the UFC plan, Islam Makhachev will defend his championship belt on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.
