The fight for the WBA World welterweight title between its owner Eimantas Stanyonis (14-0, 9 KOs) from Lithuania and challenger Virgil Ortiz (19-0, 19 KOs) from the USA will take place on March 18 in Dallas (USA) or or in the suburbs of the city. This is reported
ESPN.
Despite the unfavorable conditions (distribution of the prize fund in the ratio of 25/75), the challenger’s team won the promotional auction – golden boy Oscar De La Hoya paid 2.3 million USD. The fight will be broadcast on
streaming DAZN.
Both fighters are in the top 10 division ranking according to vRINGe.
Also on DAZN The fight for the vacant WBO flyweight title will take place.
On April 8 in San Antonio (USA), the local ex-champion in the division above Jesse Rodriguez (17-0, 11 KOs) will fight with the Mexican Christian Gonzalez (15-1, 5 KOs). This event will be hosted by Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing).
The WBO belt was vacated in November – Japanese ex-champion Junto Nakatani moved up a division, managed to make his debut in a new weight and now claims the same title at 52.2 kg.
