Mungia gave the go-ahead for the fight with Alimkhanuly? Mexican response

World Boxing Organization (WBO)it seems, does not value his reputation very much – attempts to convince the Mexican Jaime Munguia (41-0, 33 KOs) to accept the fight for the middleweight champion title have been going on for more than 2 years.

Instead of lowering the Mexican in the rankings and offering to use the status of a mandatory contender for the next boxer in the top 15, the WBO once again sanctioned a fight that will not take place – with the current champion of the organization Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (13-0, 8 KOs) from Kazakhstan.

I decidedthat it’s time to dot the “i” in this matter: “The next year for us is a time of great opportunities. That is what we are working on. I don’t want to belittle the other fighters in the division, but our priority is to fight (WBC Champion) Jermall Charlo or (WBA Super/IBF Champion) Gennady Golovkin. It is these fights that the fans are interested in.”

The Mexican recalls that he gave the green light to the fight with Golovkin back in 2018, but “then Nevada Athletic Commission didn’t let us fight. This year at GGG There was a fight with Canelo. We tried to negotiate with Charlo, but the problem is that he is boxing on showtime Al Haymon, and I collaborate with

. But after the duel was agreed upon by Gervonta Davis (showtime) and Ryan Garcia (DAZN), I had hope.

Mungia was openly asked about the option to fight Alimkhanuly, to which the eternal WBO challenger replied: “I’ll tell you how it is. I’m looking for priority options. And this is Golovkin and Charlo. I believe in the implementation of these options. I promise to amuse with a cool duel next year. It will be either a title fight or a fight with some top boxer.”

In the meantime, Alimkhanuly refused the “half-champion”. The Kazakhstani is sure that he is a “middleweight nightmare”.
